When I first started trying to eat healthier, I was so stuck in my bad habits that I virtually had to "trick" myself into eating better. For example, I now make a point to add fruit to cereal and to eat cucumber slices in lieu of chips at lunch. I'm always on the look-out for new ways to work in produce or whole grains that can become habits. So how do you add healthy foods to your diet?

Healthy meal replacements, really

I've found that the right meal replacements - low-glycemic, nutritionally balanced in protein, carbs, fats and vitamins and minerals - have made a huge difference in my ability to eat healthy given my busy lifestyle. I used to be really against them, but then I realized that I was burnt out from spending all day preparing and obsessing over which was the most organic food I could eat. I still eat organic, whole foods, but I use healthy meal replacements as breakfast and/or in between meal snacks to balance my blood sugar, keep my cravings at bay, and keep my energy high. I like Medifast meals above all others. Although they're not organic, usually and organic version like Luna bar, is too high in sugar and calories, and actually leaves me feeling hungry after I eat it!
