Pro's

  • This diet is not as extreme as the Atkins Diet.
  • This plan is able to help decrease or even eliminate cravings for carbohydrates.
  • With its focus on regulating insulin production it may help keep your blood sugar level, reducing food cravings and energy spikes and dips.

  • Unless you plan very carefully, this diet could be low in certain nutrients such as calcium or fiber.
  • If you have high cholesterol, your doctor may advise against your going on this plan, because it can be high in saturated fat.
  • Some experts say that managing blood sugar levels doesn't actually affect weight loss directly, so you may not see the results the Hellers promise without cutting calories.
