NutriSytem Diary: Day Three

On the Menu:

  • Chocolate Chip Granola Bar
  • Macaroni w/Cheese and Beef
  • Vegetarian Chili
  • Chocolate Meringue Cookies (non-NS snack)

Not by NutriSystem Alone...
One thing I may have failed to point out on my previous entries is that on the NutriSystem plan, you do regularly eat foods that are meant to supplement the pre-packaged meals. No one should try to subsist by eating just the plan foods without including the healthy grocery store foods that are on the meal plan.

On the women's plan, that means eating salads, veggies, milk/protein, and a serving of fat. If you have more than 100 pounds to lose, you add more supplemental foods.

Breakfast: Chocolate Chip Granola Bar
The chocolate chip granola bar had a good texture and was just as tasty as the kind I normally eat from the grocery store. It's also very handy to take with me to school.

Lunch: Macaroni with Cheese and Beef
I was disappointed by this meal. It didn't have much flavor at all. It had little pieces of cheese in it with plain macaroni. I'm not really sure what textured soy protein is or why it's in this meal, but I think it may not taste very good because this dish just wasn't appetizing at all. I'll make sure not to have any of these sent on my next order.

Dinner: Vegetarian Chili
This chili is delicious! And that's saying a lot, because I love chili and usually don't eat vegetarian varieties. But I didn't even notice it was missing meat, because it was so tasty and hearty. This meal was also more filling than some of the other ones.

Snack: Mrs. Meringue Chocolate Meringue Cookies
I wasn't having a lot of luck with the NutriSystem desserts/snacks, so I headed over to the NutriSystem message boards to ask for suggestion for grocery store snacks that would be acceptable. Lots of members raved about fat-free meringue cookies. These don't have a lot of flavor, but they're just right to satisfy a sweet tooth when you want to feel like you've had a dessert.

I may be a little over-eager here, but I could swear my jeans are already fitting a little more loosely. I've promised myself not to weigh in but once a week (that's how often I have to put my weight into my NutriSystem profile anyway), but I'm actually looking forward to day seven so I can find out my progress!

Join me then to find out the results of my first week on NutriSystem!
