Prime Time for Temptation: How to Snack Smart While You Watch TV (Part 2)

A guilt-free snack ... unless you're a low-carber!

Since prime time snacking often seems inevitable, here are some treats that won’t leave you racked with guilt when you switch off the remote.

In a hurry? Pick up a box of Nabisco's 100 Calorie Packs Ritz Snack Mix. It tastes like a slightly milder version of Chex Mix. It's yummy and the portion is already controlled for you in your 100 calorie package!

Or, try these simple snacks:

Movie Night Munchies Mix
1 cup Fat-free pretzels
1 Single serving pouch of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish
2 Tbsp. White Cheddar Kernel Seasons
1 Pkg. light microwave popcorn

Throw it all in a bowl. Munch away.

Kick it Up a Notch Snack Mix
6 cups air-popped pocorn
1/2 Tablespoon margarine (reduced-fat)
½ cup fat-free pretzels
dash of paprika
dash of garlic salt
-or- Garlic & Herb Mrs. Dash
dash of cayenne pepper

Put the popcorn and pretzels in into a plastic container with a lid and shake to mix it up. Melt the margarine in a saucepan or in the microwave. Stir the spices into the melted margarine. Pour onto popcorn and pretzels. Replace the lid and shake it up until it’s all covered.

2 tablespoons margarine
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup Aunt Jemima® Syrup, regular or light
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups fat-free caramel corn

Heat oven to 250°F. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Place cereal in pan.

Place margarine in 2-cup microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 45 seconds or until melted. Stir in sugar, syrup and vanilla; mix well. Pour over cereal; stir to coat evenly.

Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven; stir in caramel corn. Transfer to baking sheet, spreading mixture in even layer. Cool completely. Store tightly covered at room temperature up to 5 days.
