Peanut Butter Packs a Punch! (Part Three)

Some suggestions for incorporating nuts or peanut butter into your diet from The Peanut Institute are: using peanut butter on your bagel instead of butter or cream cheese, dipping vegetables and fruit in melted peanut butter instead of cream-based dressings, or sprinkling toasted peanuts on salads instead of croutons.

Here are some of our ideas for healthy nutty and peanut buttery treats:

  • Dip apple slices in peanut butter
  • Spread peanut butter onto a banana cut in half lengthwise
  • Have a serving of dry roasted, reduced-salt nuts as a snack
  • Spread peanut butter onto celery stalks
  • Make your own trail mix with dried fruit and roasted nuts
  • Have a peanut butter on wheat sandwich for lunch
  • Try peanut butter on toast, a bagel or English muffin at breakfast
  • Eat a serving of roasted almonds for a snack
  • Spread peanut butter onto reduced-salt saltine crackers or whole wheat crackers
  • Try peanut butter spread on tortilla or tortilla chips
  • Spread peanut butter onto rice or popcorn cakes
  • Mix nuts in with air popped or low-fat microwave popcorn (unbuttered)
  • Add slivered almonds to your low- or non-fat plain yogurt
