Are you cutting fat from your diet to lose weight? Check this out: A Penn State University study showed that people who included 15% percent more fat in a diet than their study counterparts got the same weight loss results as those eating less fat! While one group consumed a diet comprised of 35% fat, the other's daily menu consisted of 20% fat. At the end of the study, both groups had lost similar amounts of weight. The reason? Fat makes food more satisfying. It also tastes good. Therefore, the first group was more likely to stop eating when they were full and practice better portion control than the second group, because the latter group was left feeling less satiated after their meal. Incorporate fat into your meals in the healthiest way possible by adding nuts to your salads or yogurt or sautéing your vegetables in olive oil rather than vegetable oil. Olive oil brings an added plus -- studies have shown it lowers cholesterol because it is a monounsaturated fat. Other examples of monounsaturated fats are: avocados, nuts, nut butters, olives, and canola oil.
