Hold the mayo to hold on to that girlish figure!

If you're trying to cut back on fat, here are a few easy ways to trim it from your diet.

"Hold the Mayo!"
According to Corinne T. Netzer's The Complete Book of Food Counts, one tablespoon of Hellman's mayo packs in 100 calories and 11 grams of fat!

Reduced-fat varieties of mayo have become more palatable over the years. My favorite is Kraft Light.

Other alternatives include fat-free condiments like: salsa, chutney, pickle relish, mustard, or horseradish.

Dolma is a "Do"
How about trying a new ethnic food to keep things interesting? Middle eastern restaurants offer many healthful entrees, such as: baba ghanouj, rice pilaf, dolma, lentil soup, and kufta.

Better than Butter
Top toast with a tablespoon of regular butter and you've already downed an extra 11 grams of fat before your day even starts! Switch to reduced-fat margarine, yogurt-based spreads, or fruit butters (like apple butter).

Make Nice with the Bread Basket
Watching your carb-intake? Steer clear of it. But if fat's your foe, munching a bread stick or a roll before your meal can help your weight loss efforts by curbing your hunger and possibly preventing over-eating.
