Conquer Cravings!

Tuesday January 23, 2007
No one is immune from cravings. Whether you've got a few pounds to lose or 100, cravings aren't easy to deal with and they can wreak havoc on your will power. Here are some ideas for coping

  • Drink a hot beverage like tea or coffee (sweetened with artificial sweetener if you'd like). Hot drinks are comforting, so drinking them can help quell a craving.
  • Have a small taste of something that's both sweet and good for you, like dark chocolate or a flavored calcium chew.
  • Eat a piece of fruit and then wait 20 minutes. You may be surprised your craving is no more.
  • Eat a pickle! Some say this can "cancel" a craving for a particular food.
Bottom line: Don't let cravings send your eating habits out of control! Learn more on how to cope with the urge to indulge when all you can think about is giving in.
