Skip Breakfast
- I know breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal, but I never really have an appetite for it. A glass of iced tea works for me! Eat an early lunch, around 11:30 or noon, and an earlyish dinner. This helps you avoid the lunch and dinner crowds and gives you time to burn off calories before bedtime. If you need a snack before bedtime, try nuts or fruit.

I walk everywhere
- I feel the best way to see a new place is on my own 2 feet, and usually end up walking for 4-5 hours every vacation day. This allows me a little latitude to have a glass of wine or a dessert for dinner. I often lose a little weight on vacation in spite of these treats.

I bring my own snacks
- I agree with your article... I always bring my own healthy snacks. There are just too many sugar-laden, high calorie, no-nutrition snacks available when you travel. So I bring bags of sunflower seeds, some Lara bars or Clif bars and lots of water.
