Guide Review - South Beach Diet Meal Replacement Bar
The cinnamon creme meal replacement bar from the Kraft South Beach Diet Foods line is a satisfying and tasty option for South Beachers or anyone else who needs a healthful, quick meal replacement.
The nutritional boost the bar provides is a definite plus. It packs in a whopping 19 grams of protein and over 20 vitamins and minerals, including 100 percent of the vitamin C daily requirements. It is trans-fat free, contains 7 fat grams (3 saturated), and just over 200 calories.
I'm a stickler for texture and this bar doesn't disappoint. The top layer reminds me of crisped rice cereal with a sweet cinnamon glaze. The middle layer has the consistency of a chewy cookie. The bottom layer is a yummy creme frosting that tastes like vanilla icing, only less sweet.
The bar itself is very sweet-tasting, so be prepared. Not that it's too sweet; it's just right. I don't even normally care for cinnamon that much, but this bar could change my mind.
The only con I would point out is that the bar is quite dry. You will definitely want a tall glass of ice water or some other refreshing beverage (and plenty of it) on-hand when you eat this bar. I took away a half star from my rating due to this.
I ate my bar at my usual lunchtime; I found that I was no hungrier than usual throughout the afternoon. I can't say that of my past meal replacement bar experiences, so this bar is exceptional.
