Day 7
Just when I thought this diet couldn't get any easier, voila, like magic ... it does! You know how I was having trouble dining out because I couldn't figure out what to order? Just when I started to panic, I was perusing the aisles of my fave book shop when -- eureka! -- it's just what the doctor ordered ... literally! Dr. Agatston has put out a dining out guide for South Beachers! Stay tuned for my upcoming book review.
And since I'm in such a good mood let me tell you why I'm beaming with beach bum pride: Today was weigh-in day! And I'm pleased to announce that I've said sayonara to a whopping eight pounds!
You know, I honestly didn't realize I'd lost that much until just a day or two ago when I actually had to belt my favorite jeans! Do you know how long it's been since I've worn a belt? I don't care to admit it, but let's just say my jeans were acid washed and actually in style being acid washed.
This all makes perfect sense when you consider the fact that Dr. Agatston says belly fat will be the first to go in the book. But it's almost like I had to see it to believe it.
When I did my first trial of the SBD a little over a year-and-a-half ago, it was more or less to see what the food is like (not to lose weight!) and now that I'm on it for the duration, I'm ecstactic to report that it's not all hype .... it's true! You really do lose that much belly fat during week one.
After next week, my weight loss will slow down dramatically and I am mentally preparing for that fact. Of course, here's hoping that day 14 brings a great weigh-in, too. I feel confident enough in this diet to know that even though this weight loss is sudden and significant, the few-pounds-a-week rate which I'll enter at Phase 2 is what will bring me long-term success.
But for now ... boy does it feel good to latch that belt! Woo-hoo!
