If you're frustrated by a lack of progress on the South Beach Diet, there is one important factor you may be ignoring. With this diet -- and all others -- to effectively lose weight and maintain that loss, you're going to need to exercise!

While some weight loss is completely possible -- and probable -- without working out on the South Beach Diet, if you have a significant amount of weight to lose ... and you want to keep it off ... you've just got to move it!

You might not feel like exercising during Phase 1, but once you enter Phase 2 you should be ready to start a regular exercise program.

Not only will you keep your metabolism boosted, you'll reap the many benefits exercise brings like better heart health and improved sleep. Plus, even if you find you don't stay on the SBD getting into the exercise habit is a habit that will serve you well for life!

Dr. Agatston, creator of the South Beach Diet, recommends at least 20 minutes of aerobic exercise a day.
