| "Just the FAQs!": Gastric Bypass | |
Q: Will insurance cover gastric bypass?
A: That depends. Your insurance may cover the procedure, especially if it is deemed medically necessary. However, there may be some costs that the plan does not include, or your coverage may only pay a percentage of the cost, not the entire bill. Do your research on what is and isn't covered before you pursue treatment.
Some insurance companies include gastric bypass in their list of "non-covered" treatments. You should be able to find this listing in your plan literature. Even if you find a clear answer in the guide to your coverage limitations, you should still call and talk to a representative about it. There may be exceptions.
