Lunch: Hamburger Patty w/Cheese
This item had a slightly more involved preparation method than my previous lunch and dinner, so Im glad I was fixing it at home rather than on the go. (You add water to the tray the burger comes in, and then microwave it.)
The instructions said to drain the water out of the tray afterwards, but there was very little water left to drain.
(I presume this is due to the fact that the burger soaked it up so it would be moist.)
The cheese somewhat pungent and since the texture is not the same as refrigerated cheeses, I was a little concerned that it wouldnt melt (Remember when fat-free cheese first came out and it didnt melt?), but I was pleasantly surprised it melted perfectly and in the time recommended by the instructions.
I hadnt had my fat serving for the day, so I was able to add a single serving of mayo. I used my own whole wheat roll from the grocery store. I loaded up on lettuce and tomato, too.
The verdict? Im going to order lots of these to have on hand when I get a fast food craving! This burger will fit the bill.
Dinner: Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
I give this meal a huge thumbs up. It was really tasty. The sauce was rich and flavorful and the meatballs tasted close to homemade.
The meal was easy to fix in the microwave and I simply poured it over the two sides of a roll to make an open face sandwich. I ate it along with a big salad full of veggies.
I found this to be the most satisfying meal Ive tried on the plan so far. It was delicious and didnt leave me feeling the slightest bit hungry...
Snack/Dessert: Cinnamon Raisin Bagel Chips
... Snacks are another story, though, so far. These chips almost had a chemical taste to them to me.
Perhaps it is a certain preservative I am sensitive too, or, an ingredient replacing the fat that Im not accustomed to tasting.
To be honest, they didnt taste anything like any cinnamon raisin bagel Ive had or any bagel chips Ive tasted, for that matter.
I think Im going to ask my NutriSystem counselor about some grocery store snack alternatives to those provided with the program.
