Definition: Waist-to-hip ratio is a measurement that compares the size of your waist in inches to that of your hips. Risk for developing heart disease is typically measured by waist-to-hip ratio.
Also Known As: WHR, waist-to-hip circumference ratio
Examples: A waist-to-hip ratio of over 0.8 for women and 1.0 for men is indicative of a higher than normal risk of developing heart disease.
