Avoid Bagel Blunders

Choose your bagels wisely. Bakery bagels are often over-sized; they can be large enough that they comprise of two (or more!) servings of bread rather than just one. Plan on taking a friend with you by the bakery next time you get that gotta-have-it-now craving and split that big ol' bagel with him!

As with many pre-prepared foods, there are significant differences in nutrient content from brand to brand, even if you're eating the same type of bagel. An example: a Sara Lee egg bagel contains over 100 more calories than a Lender's egg bagel. Compare those nutrition charts and choose wisely!
