- When you go to your mailbox, take a brief walk up and down your road.
- Take a walk around the soccer field while your daughter is practicing her goal shots.
- If you stay at home often to care for a child or an elderly parent, invest in a stationary cycle or treadmill.
- When waiting at your appointment for your flu shot, ask the receptionist how long the wait will be and walk around the building for that amount of time.
- If you walk to classes or meetings in separate buildings try to leave for each a little early -- about five to 10 minutes -- and get in a few extra steps around the perimeter of the building before your appointment.
- Go back in time and pretend there is no such thing as remote controls -- channels don't get changed by themselves!
- At the airport, forget the "people movers" and walk instead.
- Instead of leaving your colleague a voice mail, walk to her department to discuss the meeting's agenda.
- Buy your own exercise step (like the ones used in aerobics classes) and step up and down during commercial breaks.
- Join your son in his after school basketball game.
