Holiday Gain Less than Previously Thought

Ready for some good news about weight loss?! Bet you haven't done as much damage to your waistline as you think you have this holiday season! For years it was reported that most of us gain anywhere from five to 10 pounds on average during the holiday season. Staggering statistics, right?

Well, the New England Journal of Medicine released a report a couple years ago that concluded the average gain to be far less: "The average holiday weight gain is less than commonly asserted. Since this gain is not reversed during the spring or summer months, the net 0.48-kg weight gain in the fall and winter probably contributes to the increase in body weight that frequently occurs during adulthood."
