  • Buddy Up with another Loser
Site visitor Mars Chick offers this sage advice:

"What I think is a key factor in weight loss survival is emotional support, because if you have no one there to boost you up or to say, 'Wow; you are really losing weight.' you are not going to want to keep on doing what you are doing. So I say you should take the weight loss plunge with someone so you can both lift up one another..."

  • Water Works Best
Most of us don’t need sports drinks if we’re simply completing an exercise class or spending some quality time on the stationary bike. Guzzling these will add additional unnecessary calories, especially if you down a whole bottle. Choose good old H2O instead.
  • Parfait Perfection
Try this healthful treat of a breakfast: Layer reduced-fat granola, strawberries, and blueberries between dollops of low-fat vanilla yogurt. Top with more granola if desired. It tastes like a dessert, but is a very smart breakfast choice.
  • Dennis is Lovin’ Lentils!
A South Beach dieter has a great tip for us: "I prepare one cup of dried lentils, and spice them with dehydrated onion flakes and other spices. Then I refrigerate them. In the mornings I take about 1/2 cup prepared lentils and mix them with a cup of coleslaw type shredded cabbage and heat them in the microwave.

I usually have this with a poached egg. This is a very filling breakfast and includes protein, vegetable and fiber. It's also good for lunch. The lentils seem to take the place of the toast that I used to have in the morning." – Dennis Waroway
