Why do we all tend to eat and drink so much at parties? What happens to our common sense?
I think I allowed myself to become a little too relaxed and that translated into eating whatever was in reach ... and how much of it, I have no concept. Meat the size of a deck of cards? Who can say after so many hot dogs ... ever seen a card deck shaped hot dog? A handful of nuts? Yeah, maybe the Jolly Green Giant's hand.
I have decided to make a fresh start today by cutting out sweetened beverages entirely, which meant no sugar in my morning coffee, which, let me tell you, at 6 a.m. this morning would have been a welcome treat. I am also trying to cut back my usual portions even more, but that backfired a little and this afternoon ... I reached for two snacks instead of one.
So, what changes do you make to get yourself back on track after a slip up like this one?

None of the above! People don’t get fat by eating heartily over a weekend! The sensible thing to do is to not let a big meal or a big weekend turn into a big week or a big month.
One doesn’t even need to compensate and “make up” for it – just go back to normal, healthful and balanced eating!
I agree with Al. When I was dieting and then even during maintenance, I declared Saturday as a “free” day. I didn’t count. I didn’t worry about it. I had dessert if I wanted. My mom and I would go out to some restaurant and get anything we wanted. I found that having one day of “rest” actually kept me on track the rest of the week and as a result my goals were met without anxiety or feeling “deprived” of treats.
