Give Your Library Card a Workout

My library card has been getting a lot of use so far this year. I have always relied on it as a way to try exercise videos without buying them, and now that I am learning to cook, I am checking out recipe books for the same purpose.

At first, in my vigor to become a bona fide person who can prepare an actual meal, I bought a few cookbooks that sounded beginner-friendly ... only to find that the bulk of them were too advanced for my newbie skills, asked for ingredients I never keep on hand (or can't afford) or required equipment I do not own.

Now, I simply photocopy simple-sounding, healthy picks and give them a whirl. If I find I like a number of recipes from the same book, I add it to my wish list to pick up used at my library's annual book sale or an online auction site.
