Saturday "Smart Swap!": Starbucks Treat

From Jennifer R. Scott, About.com GuideJanuary 2, 2010

Follow me on:

Saturday and Starbucks. Two words that I love to hear together in the same sentence. It means I can linger as long as I like in a place I love to be without worrying about a deadline or where I'm supposed to be next. Of course, there is one worry that bugs me: The bakery case.

I can hear it calling my name from the parking lot. A cheese danish, taunts: "You know you want me," and I do not doubt my sanity as baked goods often speak to me. And I have to agree with it, I do indeed want it, no desire it, despite the fact that it weighs in at 460 calories and 28 grams of fat.

Whispering to me is a nonfat yogurt, which is much more diet-friendly. In fact, it's so figure-friendly that I can have a biscotti with it and still be getting in only half the calories of the danish -- a protein punch that will tide me over to lunch and a fix for my sweet tooth, all for 200 calories and 5 grams of fat!
