A "Lightbulb Moment" on "The Biggest Loser"

From Jennifer R. Scott, About.com Guide   September 29, 2009

I am getting caught up thanks to the my Tivo and I now have an official favorite "The Biggest Loser" contestant this year. I usually root for pretty much everyone, but I love Abby and I was so touched by her performance last week. I was brought to tears when she called her mom to tell her about her mountain-hike. (Those two butterflies that followed her? Okay, pass the Kleenex!)

I also loved the "light bulb" moment that Abby had that counting calories and exercise actually does work! It really feels like your own personal discovery when you realize that old that "magic" you've been waiting for in the form of a diet ... a product ... a weight-loss program ... really does come down to that simple truth. It works.

Abby has overcome some really tough obstacles in her life and I am really rooting for her. But I also really identify with Shay and would love to see her go all the way too. After I thought the trainers shouldn't be tough on her, Bob redeemed the tough stuff by telling her she deserved to be happy and he would help her find her happiness. Score one for the nice guys! I hope Shay believed that.

Who is your favorite contestant on this season of "The Biggest Loser" and why?

YES diets work when limiting calories and exercising, but it is not sustainable and the weight will eventually be gained back, plus more than before.

I follow Matt Stone at: http:www.180degreehealth.com and his information and research is far and above the best and it works and is easy too.

BUt, you have to cut out most sugars if you expect long term weight loss and control. But, you can do it and its healthy and it lasts.

Well I certainly have my least favorite (and she’s still on the show). I much prefer it when they don’t “play the game” but instead focus on the weight loss, nutrition, exercise, etc. As to the rest, I’m split. No one stands out head and shoulders above the rest for me just yet. That said, I do really like Shay. I’m still pulling for Daniel — he was an early favorite of mine last season. I’m glad he made it past that weight gain after trip home on this evenings show.
