Saturday "Smart Swap!": Not So Great Grain

Saturday June 20, 2009
It's back! The Saturday "Smart Swap" is a feature that will tell you a really easy food switch (or beverage trade-off!) that will save you tons of calories and help you lose weight.

Granola is one of those foods that has a reputation as a "health food" but isn't exactly that. Of course, oats are a healthful food and we could all stand to get in more whole grains.... but if you're trying to lose weight, granola isn't so great. Pour yourself a bowl full and you're taking in hundreds of calories. Just swap a cup of granola for a cup of high fiber cereal to save 250 calories.
