How to Not Gain Weight at Your First Job...

I have worked a number of temp jobs in my day. My first was at a paper company not unlike the one on the show "The Office"... except not so funny.

I sat in the corner cubicle all by myself and did the most boring job I've yet to encounter -- typing in ZIP codes for mailing addresses. Since I was a temp, I didn't get any benefits, but I thought I had a real "perk" in the fact that the vending machines were less than 10 steps away from my chair.

This perk caught up with me when, once my three-month stay was over, I had gained 12 pounds. Yes, I had gained an average of a pound a week during my brief time devoted to five-digit-number-typing.

Tip number one is to avoid the vending machines; you'll save yourself lots of money and lots of extra calories. There are more where that came from...
