How to Fill Up (and not out!) Using Fiber

Wednesday May 16, 2007
Research has shown that increasing the amount of fiber in your diet can help with weight loss. It aids the digestion process and makes you feel fuller longer. But adding fiber to the diet is one of those things that is best done gradually, or you may end up with unfavorable side effects (e.g. bloating, gas).

So try adding some fiber-rich foods to your diet a little bit at a time. Here are some ideas:

  • apples
  • popcorn (Air-popped is best for weight loss.)
  • whole grains (e.g. whole grain breads, pasta, etc.)
  • pears
  • lima beans
  • baked beans
  • turnip greens
  • bran flakes
