What's a Calorie, Anyway?

You may often hear the word calorie tossed around, but do you actually know what calories are and why they definitely do still matter when it comes to maintaining your weight?

Well, a calorie isn't a thing at all. It's actually a unit of measurement. You might think of an inch or an ounce when you hear that. But this unit of measurement applies to the energy contained in what we eat and drink, rather unlike those inches or ounces measuring something tangible like a frame or a bottle of liquid.
