To Exercise -- Achoo! -- or Not to Exercise?

Saturday February 3, 2007
Has the cold season reared its ugly head in your household? It sure has here.

I've been fighting a humdinger of a cold for over a week now and it just won't let go. I feel really lazy and honestly, I haven't walked since the Wednesday before I came down with this sucker. Well ... I did make it to my maibox yesterday...

So, I got to wondering when I should get back in the swing of things.

According to the Mayo Clinc, it's okay to exercise if your symptoms are "above the neck"; if your symptoms are "below the neck" — such as chest congestion or a hacking cough — you should not.

Thought I'd share this rule of thumb as we all muddle through the rest of cold and flu season!
