Is an Apple a Day Keeping My Cravings Away?

Tuesday October 17, 2006
You can always count on About's nutrition Guide, Shereen, for some great advice on eating right, but boy, did she hit the nail on the head with Satisfy Your Sugar Cravings without Ruining Your Healthy Diet.

I recently decided to do something about my sugar habit: I try to eat fruit each time I crave something sweet (No more Hershey's Kisses for me!). I figured it would be a great way to not only cut some calories from my diet, but to also work in those daily fruit servings I rarely get in.

I hear ya: "Has it worked?" I think it's starting to. Normally a Sunday afternoon would have meant a leftover sweet roll from brunch or something equally as sugary and sinful. Instead, an apple and a small handful of grapes were my snack du jour.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't reach for a cookie or a piece of candy all day long ... and I haven't since.

So give my fruit tip a whirl and see if it conquers your cravings. Next for me? I'm going to add some of Shereen's tips to my crave-fighting arsenal. Check them out yourself!
