"Try it. You Might Like It!"
I use a certain kind of soup in a lot of easy recipes. It comes in two versions: 98% fat free and regular. Many times I've stood in the grocery store with both in hand and convinced myself to keep buying the regular. Why? The little voice in my head saying, "You know the reduced-fat version won't be as good!".
When re-stocking my pantry after a sale this weekend, I noticed the label of the four new cans I bought was different from those in my pantry. Guess what? I had accidentally purchased the 98% fat free version last time I stocked up and had been using it ... and never even noticed!
The moral of the story? Just maybe some of those diet versions of our favorite foods really are as good as the "real thing". I always thought it wouldn't past muster and instead I could've been cutting the fat all this time.
So go ahead, give that low-fat milk a whirl. Try that low-cal version of your favorite ice cream. You just might experience the change of heart that I got with my soup surprise!
